The Project

Project Summary: The Hope Foundation of Palestine is partnering with organizations on the ground in the Gaza Strip to provides safe, clean, drinking water for  thousands of Palestinian children by installing water purification and desalination unit with its own well and solar panel  in schools that do not have access to safe and clean drinking water.

Challenge: More than 90% of the water in the Gaza Strip is unsafe for human consumption. Crisis after crisis added to this challenge. The shortage of water in the Gaza Strip and the substandard quality of tap water have been known for years.

Solution: There is no quick solution to this crisis, however, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Hope Foundation of Palestine is working with organizations who have worked on this issue for decades. Cost is the issue. A fully functional and self-contained purification and desalination unit that serves more 2500 students costs around $16400. Maintaining a unit by changing filters, ensuring it is operating continuously is also costly. The Hope Foundation of Palestine strongly believes helping the people of Gaza starts by providing safe and clean drinking water.

Long-Term Impact:

Child development includes physical, intellectual, social, and emotional changes. The Hope Foundation of Palestine strongly believes that child development starts with access to safe and clean drinking water. Schools are for learning, providing clean water station at each school is essential to maintain such a goal. Access to safe and clean drinking water will reduce the potential of learning disabilities and cancer in school children of all ages.
